There’s a variation on this in which one claims that the Kellogg-Briand Pact included (in secret invisible ink) the sanctioning of “defensive” war found in the U.N. Charter. But more commonly the claim is that the U.N. Charter opened up the “defensive” and the “U.N.-sanctioned” loopholes for legal wars, and there’s nothing that Kellogg-Briand can do about it. That second loophole (“U.N.-sanctioned”) introduces the supposed correction of the Peace Pact’s supposed central failure, namely its lack of “teeth,” “enforcement,” or — in plane language — the use of war as a tool with which to eliminate war.
Bombs going off in Iraq? Well, it happens all the time – what’s there to see? Let’s all move along shall we?
The neocon war lobby, who, remember, couldn’t stop talking about Iraq in 2002-2003, and telling what a terrible threat the country’s WMDs posed to us, would of course like us to forget the country all together now. They’ve told us lots of times we need to move on from talking about the 2003 invasion and instead focus on more important things – like how we can topple a secular Syrian president who’s fighting the very same terrorists who are bombing Baghdad.
If Sir John does try and tell us that the war was all an honest mistake, he and his panel will be a laughing stock. Whatever Chilcot’s conclusions are, the important thing is that Iraq will be back in the news headlines, and this represents a great opportunity for those of us who opposed the 2003 invasion to ensure that justice is finally done.
It is clear to almost everyone now that we were lied into an illegal war, which not only destroyed an entire country, but which also led directly to the rise of IS and helped bring terrorism to Europe too.
We don’t need Sir John to tell us that Bush and Blair knew there were no WMDs in Iraq. Common sense and logic tells us that the deadly duo would never have invaded if they had genuinely believed the lurid claims contained in the decidedly dodgy dossiers.
Everything we were told by the neocons in the lead-up to war was false. To quote the title of a book by the antiwar British MP Peter Kilfoyle, there were Lies, Damned Lies and Iraq.
Disgustingly, obscenely, and outrageously, some of the most vociferous opponents of the Iraq war – the people who correctly predicted the disasters that would occur if Iraq was invaded – have seen their careers go into reverse because of the stance they took.
To deflect attention away from their crimes, the Iraq war clique- who have clearly read their Orwell – also encourage us to focus on the alleged crimes of Official Enemies. We’re supposed to feel outraged over a non-existent Russian invasion of the Ukraine, while forgetting about the all too real invasion of Iraq and its catastrophic consequences.
Cowardly Establishment friendly leftists, who would not retweet or cite with approval an article published by RT because of fear they’d be excommunicated from the Elite Journos Club, happily engage with unrepentant pro-Iraq war propagandists on social media.
In doing so these western faux-progressives are effectively saying that the deaths of up to 1 million Iraqis don’t matter. They’re sticking a big two fingers up at the people of the global south who have been the victims of neocon wars and destabilization campaigns.

When western media makes up stories about Russia, it’s no big deal. When Russian media get things wrong, it’s “hybrid war.”
Last week, British state-controlled TV created hysteria with a documentary about a putative Russian invasion of Latvia. As usual, while the Latvians were miffed, nobody west of Kaliningrad had any difficulty with it. They were more concerned with the segment that showed the UK being nuked.
Thus, we again discover that the Western establishment believes it has a monopoly on truth. That only its narrative is worthy and anything that challenges the consensus is disinformation.
If Evelyn Waugh were around today he wouldn’t need to invent William Boot. Too many living, breathing, equivalents have passed through Ukraine and Turkey (the base for Syria coverage) in the past two years. By the same token, George Orwell’s Winston Smith seems tame compared to agitprop practitioners of today. A certain cabal in the pro-NATO realm has decided that cynicism is somehow unique to Russia. Bewilderingly, their exclusive focus on Russia invalidates much of this enterprise. They are blind to it in their own back yards.
For those of us who follow media, the last week has been truly instructive. An independent French journalist, Paul Moreira, decided to challenge the pro-Maidan group-think in the popular press. As it happens, not one fact in his documentary was noticeably erroneous.
The show was nicely timed as the British government is currently trying to force a £100 billion ($144 billion) upgrade of their Trident nuclear deterrent through parliament. The opposition leader, Jeremy Corbyn, contends that the money might be better spent elsewhere. This is hardly surprising, given that the UK is forecast to run a £69.5 billion budget deficit in the year to April 2016. In addition, over one million Brits currently rely on free food-banks to survive.

As promised in the article before this one here is the rest of the story.
We live in an illusion created by the giant corporate media owners. Most people sincerely believe our system has something to do with democracy. I ask: “Other than the selected days for voting, when do you have any input into decisions enacted by bureaucrats, and elected officials?”
Yes, there might be an open house, where you can have input on a neighborhood concern. A plan for the neighborhood is already drafted by the administration before you arrive. Democracy is more than laws and rules enacted without input from the citizens.
Democracy is the basic right to have input before the final draft or decision is made.
My Opinion differs from the Media Version of Democracy
A short background on how Canadians were feeling during the 1960s and early 1970s. The Liberal government introduced the Canada Pension Plan. A tremendous feeling of national pride grew with the rising of a distinctive Canadian Flag. Canadians participated as the country looked for its own personality at home and on the world stage.
With the cooperation between the Liberals and New Democrats a Universal Healthcare plan was finalized. Late in the 1960s, Justice Minister Pierre Trudeau, proclaimed “there’s no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation”. This was the uniquely Canadian classical version of democracy.
The final move towards a more democratic country came with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1982 by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. The debates raged widely as the provincial governments sought more power than democracy. Democracy begins to fail when self-interest and corporations cast the people aside.
The Aim of Terrorist Laws is to Annihilate the Citizen’s Rights
As I said in the previous article I considered it my right to voice my opposition to war. During the months after the 9/11 attack we heard the attackers were Saudi in origin. Who convinced countries, especially NATO members, to attack Afghanistan and then Iraq? Why didn’t we go to the source and bomb the Saudi Royal Family into oblivion?
I wrote in an editorial printed in late January 2003: “I have heard from many of my American friends who are terrified to write anything against the current powers in Washington for fear of their lives. It would be easy to see, for most people, Bin Laden from a wealthy Saudi family is winning the so called terrorist war. After all, he is the professional in the field and it is more and more obvious the voice of reason is being silenced in the United States. Canada is not far behind as new terrorist laws are being put in place…” Many more editorials were written along the same line with one titled Dear Paul aimed directly at Prime Minister Paul Martin Jr.
Hundreds of letters, from various Canadian government departments, began arriving daily day as I wrote against war. An audit of my businesses took place in mid 2004 by Revenue Canada. At a cost of over $100,000.00 the auditors found I owed the government $88.00 over the previous 7 years. The head auditor said: “I have no idea what we are doing auditing your companies. We received an urgent memo from Ottawa to get it done immediately.”
When the statement for $88.00 arrived it included a $15,000.00 fine. The letters were now arriving at a rate of 9-12 a day and so were the phone calls. Imagine owning three businesses and having a phone for each plus a cell phone for yourself. Every phone was being bombarded with calls from multiple government departments night and day.
The meetings with Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan (and Minister of Justice) turned into shouting matches. She was also the Justice Minister who helped draft up the anti-terrorist legislation. As far as I was concerned she had lost control of her senses.
In August 2004 under a lot of stress I went for a bicycle ride in the River Valley. As I moved down into the valley I rounded one of the corners. Someone had put a pile of gravel in the middle of the path. I had been riding the path thousands of times over the years. This time I must have flown over 4 meters (approx 15′) before hitting the pavement flat on my back thankfully wearing a good bicycle helmet. Six ribs were broken, one third of one lung kept me alive, shoulder and collar bones shattered into pieces, bones flew out of my body when I hit the pavement and blood was everywhere.
Six days in ICU with a few weeks in the hospital left me feeling out of this world. My businesses were in trouble and so was I. The day I was taken home, there on my desk sat a small cardboard box, full of letters from the government. (one of them claimed I had not reported income from a schooner in Nova Scotia) The new business, supposed to open a few months earlier, was also in financial trouble. On the table was a bill from the City of Edmonton amounting to $300.00 for using an ambulance. Goodbye Universal Healthcare thanks to the corporations.
The all volunteer magazine was kept in print with funds from business supporters and my businesses. No stopping PM Paul Martin from easing up the pressure. On New Years Eve I locked the doors and walked away from two of the businesses. The last print issue of the all volunteer magazine was released in July 2005. We had started an online version in 1994. It remained online with many contributing articles and editorials until 2007.
Every time I was hired the job lasted 4-5 weeks. No reason was ever given to me. The letters kept arriving from the federal government. The fine rose to $28,000.00 for not paying the $88.00 on time. My condo was almost paid for with a balance of $42,000.00 and had an appraised value of $225,000.00. Alberta Treasury Bank (ATB), where I had accounts for business plus my mortgage, told me they did not see any reason to assist me as my funds dried up. The same bank was handed $102,000.00 by the Federal Government kangaroo Court.
CSIS said “…the order came from the PM..”
The lawyers told me the only way out was to sell the condo at the appraised value. My mind was in the mood to end my own life. You had to be there to watch friends abandon the ship. The community I helped grow, and spread it’s wings, were long gone.
The Judge was bewildered. “I have an order from the federal government…” They along with Alberta Treasury Bank a government owned financial organization took all of the proceeds and tossed me on the street. Two doctors and one psychiatrist wrote up reports diagnosing me with PTSD. It made no difference to the tainted, and prejudiced judicial system in Canada, doing the bidding of the Queen of England. Canada’s Oath of Allegiance is as follows:
“I, .., do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors. So help me God.” Every elected and non-elected Canadian government official, including the judicial system, must swear allegiance to a person in a foreign country. Had I have been there when Benjamin Franklin asked Quebec along with Upper and Lower Canada to join the Union, he would have had a promoter, to rid us of the parasitic monarchy in England.
What Rights do You Have Today?
It is my hope you will realize you do not live in a democracy. When Bill C-51 became a big election issue it was the Liberal Party of Canada who supported it under the leadership of PM Justin Trudeau. Now you know why they did so. It allows a government official the right to do whatever they deem necessary, without a warrant, without a charge, without a trial to anyone who disagrees with their policies on any topic. Your elected officials, and not elected bureaucrats, have become your judge and jury. The people are silenced using the same methods used by Stalin in the former Soviet Union.
You know what a government can do to the people protesting at the G-20 meeting in Toronto and the Occupy Movement in the United States. Now you have an example of what a Prime Minister can do to an individual without charge, warrant or trial.
The Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the US Declaration of Independence or the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights are meaningless words without an honest judicial system. Your rights can and are violated and censored every hour of the day. After World War II the UN Declaration was put in place to grant every citizen freedoms and to prevent wars. Every nation who becomes a member of the UN must sign the Declaration. There are too many examples to list of many nations violating the International Laws agreed too. Why does it happen? The International Criminal Court is ignored due to lack of support from citizens from every country world-wide.
“Cease then to call yourselves religious, lest you declare to the world your hypocrisy. Cease too to call other nations savage, when you are tenfold more the children of cruelty than they. I bow to no man for I am considered a prince among my own people. But I will gladly shake your hand.” First Nations Chief Joseph Brant to King George III

What do we get when we vote these miserable bastards to office?
We expect the politicians to act in a civilized manner. We are bored of your pathetic attempts to pour propaganda down our throats. Promises you made to us and every citizen on this planet are expected to be kept. Did our families beat that minion Hitler so you could be proud Nazi supporters? Why are you backing a Nazi regime where there was a democratically elected leader? Nice play Shakespeare try it again. Our families built the United Nations so you would have an open forum to work out differences. Too arrogant to admit you are wrong yet always ready for photo-ops.
You have deliberately created a delirious sense of hate and terror to enable more weapons of destruction. Where is your sense of decency? Your words yes we can and real change are meaningless. You have hit us with a blizzard of media half truths and outright lies.
Why are you sitting on your brain? Did you shove your head so far up your ass you are blinded by the dark side. Have you developed a speech problem? Do you require our assistance in showing you how to speak to another person over a disagreement? We do it every day of the year. Perhaps your use of verbs, nouns and adjectives needs some refreshing.
The big boys behind the military have conned you into believing they have solutions. They do not know how to dream of creating a world with everyone living in variations of peace. Why do your very wealthy friends horde trillions in paper dollars? Power is an illusion for the delusional mind. History is cluttered with those who wanted power over the citizens of this planet. Please share your memories of a wealthy historical character.
Tell your wealthy friends to release their trillions into the economy. We will thank them for their generosity, if, you do not kill us with more taxes.
You disgust me with your blithering remarks about nuclear weapons. We lived through the years of the bomb once. Once is enough. I could not imagine any of you jerks being in charge during those years. We had real leaders who were willing and able to speak to the other side. There is a difference between intelligence and being sleazy.
You have lost the capacity to speak an honest word.
It is pretentious of you to believe good jobs, a decent living and family can are created by building weapons of death. Did we have a day without war during the last 100 years?
When you were not looking the dreamers created millions of high paying jobs in the space program. Today your wealthy friends cannot figure out how to get a rocket off the ground. Yet you still believe the military creates steady employment. I know you are a slow learner so this was written with very few big words.
How did you forget the promises you made to the citizens of this planet?
You are so neurotic you depress me.
“Our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this planet.
We all breathe the same air.
We all cherish our children’s future.
And we are all mortal.” President John F. Kennedy
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau – a rock and a hard place
The Paris attacks are being played as though no one in the world has seen anything so outrageous. Big media are ringing the alarms by the minute. Social networks have people decorating their profiles with the colors of the French flag. A cluster of “bomb them” sounds through the mouths of media readers and experts. Perhaps Canada ought to keep the six F-18s bombing in Iraq and Syria or not.
Yes it is sad to see families mourning the loss of loved ones in France.
What did people expect after being led into the Mother of all Wars as Saddam Hussein said before the U.S. attacked Iraq in 2003? It is all part of a U.S. plan to protect Israel with its’ full military strength. That in itself is a cruel joke for the people of Palestine. With his direct communication with whatever God he believed in George Bush, the lessor, names three countries as evil. Since the 9/11 attacks were carried out, according to the CIA, by Saudis it made sense to attack Saudi Arabia. Yet the bombs began dropping in Afghanistan within a few months of September 11, 2001. The military must have had the wrong map of the middle east.
A million people from Afghanistan paid with their lives because, supposedly, a Saudi leader was hanging out somewhere in the mountains of their country. Afghanistan was pulverized by the coalition of the willing. Meanwhile Israel continued massacring Palestinians with weapons made in the U.S.A. and thirty foot walls rose faster. Canada participates in the invasion supposedly as a peace keeper. We know we were lied to.
Saddam Hussein, the U.S. supported and appointed dictator, was next. Iraq was a big prize for the wealthy. Once beautiful cities with a friendly people graced the region called Iraq. The wealthy billionaires no longer wanted to buy the oil so they muscled up the lies and bought the U.S. and British military. You are likely under the impression the military is meant to protect the citizens of a given country. Truth is, the military protects the billionaires, to compound their unscrupulous wealth. Today Iraq lays in rubble without electricity, clean water, hospitals and proper food. Wealthy billionaire corporations steal the oil leaving the people of Iraq scrambling to live.
Iraq was bombed long distance, close up and personal. UN estimates put the deaths of the Iraqi population near 1.7 million with countless wounded. Saddam Hussein, love him or leave him, was entitled to a fair trial for those who believe in an honest judicial system. An additional 10% of the middle class population of Iraq fled to Syria and Jordan.
Help Israel Attack Iran
Once again Israel makes a joke of itself by attempting to stir up lies about Iran. Nutty Netanyahu becomes a clown with a half-witted drawing of a bomb. In fact he was so crazy people began looking deeper into the story of Iran. Iran is far greater than what the twisted media pretends. Historically their story begins nearly two millennium BCE. Iran also has historical ties to ancient and modern Russia.
The Iran myths and lies put forward by wealthy billionaire media moguls did not work out as planned. There is no conscience when it comes to the wealthy tyrants.
After years of U.S. imposed sanctions the wealthy decide they want the resources of Libya. A nation where Muammar Gaddafi had nationalized the oil industry to benefit the people of Libya. He created a hell-fire by abolishing the monarchy and asking people to think outside traditional authority. Muammar Gaddafi showed support of Palestine against imperialism and Zionism. Big media critics overlooked the fact that per capita income of Libya rose to more than US $11,000 during the 1970s. To punish Gaddafi, the wealthy ordered NATO, to bomb the country sending the people into slave wages. Deaths of civilians upwards to 500,000.
Attack Syria while Attacking Iraq Again
The ever powerful wealthy turned the military weapons against the popular Bashar Assad of the ruling Ba’ath party. First the Israelis hit a Palestinian refugee camp near Damascus in 2003. They did leave behind enough death and used a second air strike against Syrian civilians and refugees in 2007. Immediately the U.S. used the sanction card on Syria for not behaving as any citizen of the U.S. should behave. Not that most people in the U.S. could find Syria on a world map. It is better to watch reality television than look at the bombed out cities in Syria you allowed to happen.
First the bloated media experts showed pictures and video of the dead refugees washed up on the shores of the northern Mediterranean Sea. Without looking at a map they claimed they were from Afghanistan. They must have traveled south, crossed the Persian Gulf, then they took boats north to cross the Mediterranean. Next the media, owned by a few wealthy moguls, changed it to Syrian refugees. Again the wealthy called up their military from the U.S. and Canada to fire missiles at Syria. Russia, portrayed as a nation to fear, has repeatedly requested open talks on Syria. Billionaires Club were not expecting nuclear Russia to get involved.
They thought their coup d’état removing the elected President of Ukraine would stir public opinion against Russia. The media are far to illiterate to present evidence Russia did anything to overthrow the government of Ukraine. History began before 24/7 non-stop trite gossip broadcasting. Whatever happened to the election slated in September 2014 after the the coup d’état? Democracy is the wealthy having fun with billions of slaves.
You have been conned into believing more lies akin to the one of finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. As long as you ignore the people of Palestine count on more rebel groups too numerous to mention. War has two sides to the story. You have allowed wealthy corporations to blunder the wealth of Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Palestine along with African and Latin America
I cannot find Tel Aviv on any map of Palestine. Palestinians did not build 30′ concrete walls around any one. You did.
Your only dream is to win the lottery.
On the other hand, the chances are pretty good that you’ll slave away at some miserable job the rest of your life. That’s because you were in all likelihood born into the wrong social class. Let’s face it — you’re a member of the working caste. Sorry! You are the pourers of coffee, the sellers of donuts and other unhealthy food stuffs.
As a result, you don’t have the education, upbringing, connections, manners, appearance, and good taste to ever become one of us. In fact, you’d probably need a book the size of the yellow pages to list all the unfair advantages we have over you. That’s why we’re so relieved to know that you still continue to believe all those silly fairy tales about “justice” and “equal opportunity” in Canada.
Of course, in a hierarchical social system like ours, there’s never been much room at the top to begin with. Besides, it’s already occupied by us — and we like it up here so much that we intend to keep it that way. But at least there’s usually someone lower in the social hierarchy you can feel superior to and kick in the teeth once in a while. Even a lowly dishwasher can easily find some poor slob further down in the pecking order to sneer and spit at. So be thankful for migrant workers, prostitutes, and homeless street people.
Always remember that if everyone like you were economically secure and socially privileged like us, there would be no one left to fill all those boring, dangerous, low-paid jobs in our economy. And no one to fight our wars for us, or blindly follow orders in our totalitarian corporate institutions. And certainly no one to meekly go to their grave without having lived a full and creative life. So please, keep up the good work!
You also probably don’t have the same greedy, compulsive drive to possess wealth, power, and prestige that we have. And even though you may sincerely want to change the way you live, you’re also afraid of the very change you desire, thus keeping you and others like you in a nervous state of limbo. So you go through life mechanically playing your assigned social role, terrified what others would think should you ever dare to “break out of the mold.”
Naturally, we try to play you off against each other whenever it suits our purposes: high-waged workers against low-waged, unionized against non-unionized, male against female, Canadians against Japanese against Mexican against…. We continually push your wages down by invoking “foreign competition,” “the law of supply and demand,” “national security,” or “the bloated federal deficit.” We throw you on the unemployed scrap heap if you step out of line or jeopardize our profits. And to give you an occasional break from the monotony of our daily economic blackmail, we allow you to participate in our stage-managed electoral shell games, better known to you ordinary folks as “elections.” Happily, you haven’t a clue as to what’s really happening — instead, you blame “Aliens,” “Tree-hugging Environmentalists,” “the Homeless,” ” Welfare Queens,” and countless others for your troubled situation.
We’re also very pleased that many of you still embrace the “work ethic,” even though most jobs in our economy degrade the environment, undermine your physical and emotional health, and basically suck your one and only life right out of you. We obviously don’t know much about work, but we’re sure glad you do!
Of course, life could be different. Society could be intelligently organized to meet the real needs of the general population. You and others like you could collectively fight to free yourselves from our domination. In fact, you can’t even imagine that another way of life is possible. And that’s probably the greatest, most significant achievement of our system — robbing you of your imagination, your creativity, your ability to think and act for yourself.
So we’d truly like to thank you from the bottom of our heartless hearts. Your loyal sacrifice makes possible our corrupt luxuries within in our political parties and our friends.
Thanks so much for “knowing your place”
